Apparently, my old flip-phone couldn’t receive the Emergency Alert Text that FEMA tested today. Anyway, it didn’t show up. Guess I’m doomed.

My flip phone didn't react. But I was on the road in a dodgy reception area.

Odd that you can opt out of Amber Alerts and EAS but not these though.

Hmmm...My wife got it on her 6s. Is this alert system able to transmit to selected phone numbers and skip other phone numbers?

You didn’t get the secret message? Go to the App Store and search for the disgronificator app. It will decode the secrect message.

I hadn’t heard about this until it happened. I was in a waiting room with my wife, and nearly soiled myself when EVERYBODY’S phones all started wailing like the bombs were actively falling...
I was not particularly impressed by the fact that I could not opt out, and worse, that not everyone I knew actually got the message - which negates the utility of not allowing people to opt out.

I thought got it because everyone's phones rang at once, but looking back at my list of texts it's not there. It pulled a Banksy and self-destructed?

I have a personal iPhone X and a work iPhone 6s, both on AT&T. The work phone got the message but my personal phone did not. No idea why.

Does it come in as a text or as a push alert?

It's the same as an Amber alert or National Weather Service alert. It was followed a few minutes later by an alert on local TV and radio stations.

So, not actually a text, then. That explains why my old flip phone didn’t receive it. It doesn’t get Amber Alerts either.

The good news is the government isn’t trying to kill you.
The bad news is that phone is not only older than the wireless alert system, it’s older than the bill which authorized it.

Mom and in laws have flip phones that get amber/NWS alerts. I haven't asked if they received the FEMA alert.

Just that. No privileged information in the email. She didn’t say anything bad about the company. She wasn’t looking for a new job. No previous complaints from IT about personnel misusing company email.

I never get Amber alerts on the phone either. Is their phone one of those Jitterbug things? I'm pretty sure those can get alerts.
