Dominique Strauss-Kahn is seen as the best candidate for the Socialist Party to regain power. Oh deary me.

This probably won't make many waves in the US or the UK, but the French press are going ballistic. All the other candidates for the Socialist Party (aka PS) primaries are licking their lips, hoping that he gets found guilty. They all hate each other and DSK is seen by most of France as a very middle-of-the-road politician, and therefore a good proposition to oppose Sarkozy for the PS.

I read about it, it's absolutely bizarre.

I'm sure there is plenty of conspiracy potential, because his career is basically ruined, no matter what the outcome of the allegations. In light of the coming elections, there are plenty of people that will benefit.

Trouble is, he's a known womanizer. He's finished, even if not guilty. (IMHO).

Wait, the IMF chief is also a Socialist? I'm confused, but it's a fact. I guess I don't pay enough attention to the IMF and other global NGOs/IGOs like it.

The guy's a Socialist and therefore is obviously EVIL. Is it any big wonder he's also a sexual deviant?

I think you're confusing socialism with communism.

Nope, no confusion. It was said half in jest and have truthfully. Socialism is just an intermediate step to Communism according to Marx. The only Socialists I have much tolerance for are the Chinese. Their Socialist government remains evil, but it's a shell of its former self because they've become such good capitalists too.

Berlusconi has done lots to give the impression that that isn't strictly prerequisite.

Of course, *nobody* understands why the hell Italians vote they way they do (or don't), so...

I see.

And of course, all socialists and social democrats are inherently Marxist.

I can see why you're confused.

It's easier for some people to be able to throw all the people he doesn't like into one or two big buckets. That way they don't have to go through the effort of trying to understand that there are many variants to things like "Socialism". It would be devastatingly confusing for them to try to comprehend the fact that not all people who agree with some aspects of socialism are following Marx's marching orders to communism.

I never understood the motivation to force someone to perform oral sex on you when you are in a very uh ... "vulnerable" position and the other person has teeth.

This whole thing seems weird. Could be a set up. Not saying it is, but it's marginally possible.

OW
Exactly. She should have biten off one of his balls, and kept it as proof.

I also doubt he'd had boarded the flight with balls missing.

Just wondering, the Frog press are harping on about his treatment, being in Rikers, no bail etc etc. Have other high-profile people been treated the same way? Or is this just a case of ensuring that he doesn't leave the country?
