Does anyone have any information on when to expect Amazon to issue rebates on the new PowerBooks? To be honest, although I've used Amazon rebates for a few laptop purchases now, I haven't paid enough attention to their timing of setting up rebates for new products.

The current rebate ends on 11/8. Does that mean that it'll probably be necessary to wait until 11/9 to order a new 15" and qualify for the rebate? I'd love to hear others' personal experiences in this exact situation with Amazon.

Thanks!

$200 rebate up now! $1799 - not bad, including free shipping, and no sales tax!

Yep. I ordered about 2 hours after the form was posted. It's even better than $1799...if you use A9 and have an Amazon card, the price really comes down to under $1700 effectively.

Bought my PowerBook from Amazon last summer, and was so glad I did. $150 back at the time.

What is A9? Is it in any way connected with Amazon credit cards?

No. Use the a9.com search engine every few days, get 1.57% off all your Amazon purchases. It's a sweet deal.

For an even sweeter deal, get an Epson printer with your PowerBook and stack rebates on top of it. I got a CX3810 multifunction unit for what will be about $15 after rebate. I'll likely sell it on Craigslist for $60 or so, actually making money for having bought the printer. So, my net "effective" price on the PowerBook will be somewhere around $1630, give or take.

Has Amazon begun shipping the new 15" PBs? Or were they?

I was thinking about ordering and getting the rebate/a9/amazon credit discounts, but when I look up the new PBs you can only pre-order.

Thanks!

I ordered mine from Amazon with the rebate on Oct 29, with a shipping date of Nov 4. Delivery Nov 7-14

Im a switcher and chomping at the bit to get my new Powerbook 15"

Though now that I read about the Crucial Ram problems, looks like I'll order mine from Newegg and use another brand.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I just went through to the order process to see if I could get an estimated date...... and it will ship January 3, 2006!

It's a good deal w/ the 200 off and the A9/Amazon CC, but... I could just go to the Apple Store and get the educational discount (which is 200 off.. but then that dreaded Tax.. bring me to about 1900 out the door).

I'll check Amazon over the next couple days... thanks again!

Ship on January 3, 2006? That sounds pretty far out. Two months!? Yikes.

BTW KBfinfan, I'm from Carmel/Brewster NY.

Ah kewl. Used to go to Danbury mall all the time.

Amazon is showing 24hr ship time. I haven't fully committed so I don't know if that will change. KBFinfan - it still shows January 06 for you?

If you're getting 2 month ship times, it's just a glitch in their inventory system. Probably a default date or something. Think about it -- they'll get PBs to ship to you when Apple ships them a load.

Better hope so - rebate is good for purchases through November 8, and postmarked by December 8 .....

Ya, its 24 hrs shipping for me now.

But.. I'm still deciding, I'll probably pull the trigger over the weekend.

Thanks guys!

when it says you are "buying from" or item is "shipped from" J&R Music World or somebody else does this mean that this stores return policy is in effect vs. Amazons? J&R's refund policy is defects only for exchange but they seem to have the best price on the 15" pb and the rebate is good.

No -- the rebate is not good at J&R. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it, you cannot use it if you order from any of Amazon's partners.

meaning that just because amazon advertizes it after a search on their site doesn't mean the rebate applies. thats good info, it would be easy to assume otherwise. i dont see the model i want directly from amazon unfortunately.
