I am running 10.3.9 on a G3 900 MHz iBook with 640 SDRAM...

Every time I enter a few letters into the Finer's search field, it crashes. I don't get a crash log, or an "unexpected error," or anything of that sort. After two or three seconds, finder just restarts on its own.

I have tried repairing the permissions but still no searches.

Anyone know to what this problem can be attributed? And how I can fix it?

Thanks a lot.

In addition to repairing permissions, have you tried Repairing the Volume your system is on?

You can do this by booting from the system install disk and instead of launching the installer, go to the menu to Disk Utility to Repair Disk.

It is also a good idea to run DiskWarrior if you have it.
