That is not a nice thing to call a person, or a computer. I am going to have to ask that children do not click on that web link.

Yes, because if there's one thing we want to prevent our kids from doing it's using Linux.

Indeed. Otherwise they'll grow up to be communists.

This thread is good for showing some Torvalds quotes:
"If any Intel people are listening to this and you had anything to do with ACPI, shoot yourself now, before you reproduce."
"The memory management on the PowerPC can be used to frighten small children."
"My name is Linus, and I am your god."
"Portability is for people who cannot write new programs."
"When you say "I wrote a program that crashed Windows", people just stare at you blankly and say "Hey, I got those with the system, *for free*"."
"If you still don't like it, that's ok: that's why I'm boss. I simply know better than you do."

I'm not really up on the Linux/Linus lore. So this is my question, in old-fashioned SAT analogies form:
Bill Gates : Paul Allen ::
Steve Jobs : Steve Wozniak ::
Linus Torvalds : ???
who is the out-of-the-spotlight, cool, likable, true-hacker-spirit guy to correspond to Linus' savvy and managerial sense?

That'd be Linus Torvalds : Linus Torvalds.

That would probably be Alan Cox.

It's just a source management system, nothing huge.

Linus Torvalds is a complete asshole. The way he slammed Tridge for trying to write a free BK client is just disgusting. The name 'Git' is just another stab at him.

Yeah I am losing more and more respect for Linus, and he loses more and more of his common sense.

Huh? He got burned by using a closed-source project and so now he's going to produce his dream versioning system, open-source style. What's wrong with that? The bad guy here is Larry McVoy, who promised that kernel developers would be able to use BitKeeper for free as a kind of advertising for his product.
