Since receiving a fax some days ago, whenever my phone rings I hear the screech of an incoming fax, although non is coming in. I must turn off the modem to hold a conversation (never happened before) Must I re-install the modem, or is there a simpler solution?

Try this. It works for me.

� Open the Global Village Fax Center under the Apple Menu.
� go to Set Up and scroll down to Receiving.
� set the number of times your phone rings before it receives an incoming fax to a higher number of rings. Mine is set at 3. That gives me enough time to pick up the phone and receive a phone call rather than having the fax software kick in.

Thanks, Jim..That is probably it. I did move my ring no. to 1 so my wife wouldn't pick up in the middle of the fax. Forgot all about that.
