OK I heard about this band called Family Force 5, and I immediately dismissed them assuming they'd be like... some weird pop styled band. But I kept reading good things about their upcoming album. So I saw their album recently for 10 bucks and decided I'd pick it up.
And... it's STRANGE! But I think I like it. I"m having trouble throwing them into a genre. They seem like... funk meets glam rock meets rap...
Apparently they had tons of secular labels interested in them but they wanted to be released both into the Christian and Secular markets. So the eventually went with Gotee (same label as Reliant K). But anyway... I feel ashamed to say that I like this band solely based on their name... I mean... Family Force 5... it's the dumbest sounding thing I've ever heard, almost as bad as MacBook Pro... but they're pretty dang good! Apparently they're on iTunes too...

I don't know about anyone else, but I think How Often Do You Find A Great Band With An Awful Name would be a great name for a band.

I used to buy records based on if they had a cool album cover or if they were on a label of another band I liked, without hearing a single track. Sometimes it just works.

I do that with wine and beer... make a design based decision and it usually works out. Companies that put more time and money into design usually put that time and effort into a superior product.

I dunno about you but Family Force 5 sounds pretty damn appropriate for a Christian band.
Well maybe a Christian Rock band would be better off as the "Christ Punchers".

Christian bands generally have better names.
Benjamin Gate,
Sanctus Real,
Anberlin,
Waking Ashland,
Classic Crime,
FM Static,
Element 101,
The W's,
The OC Supertones,
Run Kid Run,
mewithoutyou,
Number One Gun,
The Wedding,
and so on. I mean actually I think the name makes me think of "groups" like Jump 5 (a pop act created for Christian kids that unfortunately has yet to die even once the kids have gotten older).

The Church. VERY non-Christian, but many people wouldn't even listen to them because they would think they were religious.
Honorable Mention: Gin Blossoms

You've seen Buffy? I believe their emo is like the bands who play on stage at that social centre thingy ('The Bronze"?). Sort of like The Cure but without the humour.

One of these days, someone is going to have to explain the difference between "subjective" and "objective" to you.

If there isn't already a band called the "The Christ Punchers", I intend to form one.

One of my favorite bands is Ozric Tentacles: so named after an imaginary breakfast cereal.
Another band has a cool name: Poisoned Elecktrick Head (!)
A local band, one of the best ever that never got signed or success was
called Exploding Head Trick. Amazing musicians. Imagine Mahavishnu
meets REM and you get the idea.
Locally there are such bands as Mezzofist, Dumpster Juice, Kruddler
and Har Mar Superstar (who got signed but it's named after the Har
Mar Mall).

There is no need to be insulting when I think it is pretty clear that your ability to write clearly leaves a little to be desired. Regardless, there is no need to be insulting.

Avenged Sevenfold is a crappy name, but the band sucks too so that's OK.

Oh funny story... just found out the band is jointly signed to Gotee and Maverick. IE Gotee will handle the Christian distribution and Maverick will do the secular side. That means this band is signed to the same label as Michelle Branch, and Alanis... as well as others.
