Sorry in advance, I didn't know where this thread belonged...

So I have an old iMac G3 that I was going to put Mac OS X 10.3 onto. I found a cheap copy online and was going to set it up with apache to run a few websites from home.

I was thinking it would possibly be better to run a version of linux and apache for free and perhaps less OS Overhead on the machine so it can do what it needs to (be a 100% web server)

I am not afraid to learn linux or whatever but I would prefer to start somewhat graphical if possible.

Any opinions? Would you just stick with OS X or move to something else for this need?

Why bother with Linux? OS X is perfect.

Just for the low overhead factor, obviously OS X has major advantages in so far as I know it well and ease of use etc.

Just wanted to hear opinions.

Apache on OS X is smooth - /library/webserver/documents - turn sharing on and boom.

It's already bundled with your computer - no reason to bother with Linux
unless you want to do it for the learning experience.

Just run Apache on OSX. If you really want more than "press button to turn on" you can go manually edit the configuration files to your heart's content.
