The AOL Running Man was introduced in 1996, when the icon was featured in the Sign On process for the AOL Service. He became the icon for AIM in 1997 and was used heavily in AOL for Broadband advertising beginning in 2003. He was inducted in to Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame as a Favorite Advertising Icon, but alas, in order to break ties with the original AOL, the new AIM no longer includes him.

I liked the running man in the Fast Find program in Norton Utilities.
