I believe anything that'll run Jaguar will run Panther. They might finally be dropping beige G3s or something, but all in all it's supposed to be faster on the same hardware than Jaguar is.

Thanks for that... I can sleep more soundly

I was searching for the specs and I could not find them any where.

I'll throw in more memory just for the fun of it, I get to buy something new for my baby (Ibook)... oooh yeah.

As of the current build some 3rd party video cards are not supported (proformance3 for example) so actually it's not anything that will run jag will run panther... it's any stock machine that runs jag will run panther.

Panther requires a G3 or above and built-in USB. So, Beige G3s are out and so are the early PowerBook G3s that don't have USB.

No, not any Mac that runs Jaguar will run Panther. They do not have the same system requirements.

Does anybody know what happens with the machines that have unsupported video cards (like original iMac and iBook) and the user transition effects and other fancy effects involving the accelerator?
Thanks a lot!

it tried some early betas on original iMac (233mhz & 128mb ram), and it WORKED. It was snappier than my everyday iBook 500

Now let's just wait!

System requirements aren't on the website AFAIK. But that doesn't mean Art is wrong. In fact, he's very much right. Panther won't run on anything that didn't come from the factory with USB.

Fortunately, XPostFacto 3 will (theoretically, when it's done) let Panther run on those early G3s, as well as the 7/8/9x00-class machines (with G3/G4 upgrade).

It's not on the website yet. It is in the readme for the developer seeds.

And does the readme tell about the requirements for the specific developer seed or about the requirements for the final product?
