I second this one.
Been trying to watch the keynote but my connection freezes every time i try to acess it >.<

And decoding H.264 isn't the problem. :/

In addition to trying with the latest available version of QuickTime, have you tried adjusting the "Streaming Speed" (in System Preferences > QuickTime > Streaming) to the appropriate speed for your internet connection?

Yeap.

I downloaded iTunes 5.0 with QT 7 last night and set it to 256kb/s in the preferences.
Even tried to set it lower but with same result - nothing happens

Wow. I watched the special event late last night (in the UK) streamed in H264, in some pathetic tiny little res (100 pixels or so wide I think), I tried again this morning to see if I could get it in a higher res, nothing. After reading this thread I looked at my streaming prefs, and they're set to automatic. I changed them to 1 Mbps cable, and tried again, and got it in 640 x 360!

So the 'automatic' setting in the quicktime prefs is rubbish!

I cant stream it either. granted im on dialup, but i used to be able to see the previous keynotes. This one goes for like 3 seconds and then just freezes up. Id prefer to download the thing though and watch it on my TV.

Cheers.

How about if you change the transport protocol? (System Prefs > Quicktime > Advanced. Change from Automatic to Custom and adjust the protocol -or the port- in the drop down menu that appears.)

i watched it last night and it was really good quality, paused in one spot, but then came through fine. easily the best quality/smoothest keynote i've watched.

After a lot of tinkering with settings i get this green screen and sound but video is a no-no. And its res is 100 or px

Again, i`d be very gratefull if someone could post a download or torrent of a decent high res H.264 version. I need my dose of RDF

I'm sorry to be a pedant, but this was a press event, not a keynote. A keynote is what you have at the beginning of a conference.

WWDC 2005 was a keynote. This thread is not referring to Jobs' WWDC 2005 keynote, but rather the recent Apple press event where the iPod nano was released.

Right on, that's the original webcast.

I noticed that Apple cut out the performance of Kanye West on the shortened webcast, sept_event_2_h264_650.mov.

Taken from Clint at the Apple Discussions.

Since I'm using NAT with my router, I had to tweak the QuickTime settings to overcome the issue as such:

1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences
2. Click the QuickTime icon
3. Go to the advanced tab
4. From the Transport Setup list, select Custom...
5. From the Transport Protocol list, select HTTP

it's not fishy, and ironknee did hint towards where it is. you will either know where it is from ironknee's post or you won't. if you don't know from his post, then you're not going to be able to get it from said place either.

think exclusive club.
