Personally i prefer Cadbury.

EDIT>> for you fancy boys/girls out there, dont drag in Lindth, etc. Lets keep this between Cadbury and Hersheys. And if you dont like chocolate.......well.....thats just plain sad.

eh? Blasphemy.

I'll say Cadbury. Hershey's is kind of hard and grainy, and texture counts.

Mmm Cadbury's chocolate. I grew up with the stuff, my Aunt worked at Cadbury's for 20 years and she would always bring me home the broken bits they sold/gave to staff only. The staff could eat as much chocolate as they wanted at work (probably cause they knew they would get sick of eating it).

I like Hershey's chocolate. In many circles I've been shunned, but I like it. I had some really good swiss chocolate not too long ago.

Chocolate is not chocolate. There are HUGE differences.

Hershey's is junky chocolate. It's grainy and waxy.

Cadbury's is pretty good.

But neither one approaches what the Swiss or almost any artisanal chocolate maker (e.g. Scharffen Berger) will make.

Note that I also think Godiva is junky. It's Hershey's quality for Lindt prices...

I voted for Hershey's because it's what my wife usually purchased. She goes with the coupons and deals

When the competing products are of similar quality, price-shopping makes sense. When the cheaper product is plainly inferior, it's not so simple.

Well, okay, the title was a clear hint that this thread isn't about *chocolate*, so that's fair I suppose.

Depends very much on where it is made. Cadbury's tastes completely different when made in the USA, the UK and Australia. USA-made Cadbury's is kind of ordinary, Australian is excellent, and UK-made is somewhere in between.

Aussie Cadbury's is at least as good as most swiss chocolate I've tasted, with the only exception being the tiny "Swiss Chocolatier" shop where he makes his own chocolate in Launceston, Tasmania. Now, THAT is the worlds best chocolate!

I have to vote with Hershey. Cadbury is good stuff, don't get me wrong, but I prefer Hershey. Its consistency has to do with the particular mix of cocoa butter vs cocoa powder, which is different from Cadbury's mixture. Cadbury chocolate is great for nibbling on the spot, but Hershey's melts in your mouth-and that's where the mix they use does its best work. The slow melting action spreads the flavor out longer, so I can savor it more.

Cadbury IS creamier, but it also melts faster-something I can note through about 9 months out of the year here in Southcentral Texas.

Cadbury just doesn't have the presence of Hershey's, but I do prefer it. Not those eggs though. Gross.

cadbury vs hershey is kinda like budweiser vs coors....comparing the lowest of the low. cadbury is edible in a pinch but hershey stuff is awful - like others have said it is cheap, waxy and grainy...very low quality.

i rarely eat chocolate anyway, but when i do i am a teuscher of switzerland kind of guy....their champagne truffles are the *best*

I don't know much about cadbury, but I'd almost rather not eat chocolate than eat Hershey's. Almost.

I thought in the states cadbury's was made under licence by Hershey. Was I lied to?

Cadbury's in the USA doesn't taste like it does in the UK. I like Green & Blacks though, best chocolate evar!

I was right:
Although Cadbury Schweppes chocolate products have been sold in the U.S. since 1988 under the Cadbury trademark name, the chocolate itself has been manufactured by Hershey's.
So this poll's win-win for hershey!

I've never eaten Hersheys. Cadbury (UK) is kind of edible, but compared to proper chocolate, it's still garbage.

Very rarely do I buy Hershey products.

Look at the think I posted above.

Cadbury is chocolate and chocolate is Cadbury. May as well just fall into their advertising campaign.

My mum and dad own a huge choc/confec/soft drink/snackfood distribution business that covers thousands of K's. Cadbury is the biggest choc seller in Aus, hands down. I don't even think we stock Hersheys Choc (or if its even distro'd in AU). Most popular chocolate bar is Mars.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is:

I used to be a Hersheys fan until I tried real chocolate. Now eating a Hersheys bar is like sucking on a pound of sugar.

Scharffen Berger is really good. For something interesting, Vosages Chocolate creates different and exotic combinations--my favorite is the Barcelona Bar--which has almonds, gray sea salt and dark chocolate.

Scharffen Berger is the first American-made chocolate that has genuinely impressed me. Mind you, I lived in Switzerland for 7 years, where generic store-brand chocolate is largely as good as premium brands. I got spoiled. Or maybe it's just that I had time to refine my palate. Yeah, that's it!

Hershey's is the Budweiser among chocolate brands. Anyone who seriously believes it is good chocolate is either confused or has never tasted the real thing.

Personally, I prefer Ritter Sport. Good chocolate, nice varieties.

Like I said above, Hershey makes chocolate? Thanks for reminding me about Ritter. I'm going on the road for my two week stint tomorrow, so I'll have to find a local place which sells it, and take some in the truck with me.
