I like the 'smoke' theme for Netscaepe, it looks the best option to get a shine aqua Netscape, but it has some cons, the big one, you can not see the scroll bar.

You must get the theme from here:

http://www.cs.txstate.edu/~as1130/th...e/install.html

avoid this one:

http://themes.mozdev.org/themes/smoke.html

downloading...

ok, delete Netscape does not solve the problem, just try to delete some netscape prefs and the theme data into home - library - mozilla - profiles - default (I did not create one) - flq4y4qf.slt - chrome ----> mac_somke_ns.jar

YES !, works !

So, just install Netscape 7.1 go to:

http://www.cs.txstate.edu/~as1130/th...e/install.html

clic on MAC OS X

NOTE THIS TEXT ON THE SITE:

"Because Smoke uses native os scrollbars, it is neccesary to download the Mac-specific version in order to function properly on a Mac"

and then clic on install (Smoke)

save does not for me.

Now Netscape looks really NICE !

hahaha... ouch that hurts after all that work angelmb obviously put into it. you've got a point though... Netscape development has been killed, AOL who owns Netscape has signed a contract with MS to only use IE, and for all intents and purposes Netscape doesn't exist anymore. Sure it physically does, but not in any sort of rational look at the world.

Heh, sorry... just finished writing over at slashdot, still in my asshole-kharma-whore post style . seriously though angelmb, do yourself a favor and check out Mozilla or Firefox if you're into the netscape thing.

So no new Netscape?, never?, ouch

Yes I use several browsers, just to compare built in features and so, to be honest Netscape is the fastest here (56Kb modem), it beats the previous king of speed on my PowerBook, Camino.

Mozilla seems a Netscape twin brother uses the same Gecko?, that is, if I must 'replace' N, which one must I get, Mozilla?

Mozilla was originally an offshoot of Netscape for open source development... because of Mozilla, Netscape 6 and 7 became what they were (essentially relabeled and slightly delayed versions of beta Mozilla browsers). Same rendering engine (gecko), pretty much same everything. When AOL killed Netscape, they gave $2 million or so to mozilla development, and from there it's just kept on going. So, if you want what Netscape would be in a month (assuming updates were still being released), grab the version of Mozilla that's out today.

For a lean-and-mean alternative to Mozilla, grab Firefox. They're both at mozilla.org on the front page... Firefox is basically Mozilla without the email, web page creator, etc etc. Just the browser.

Personally I'm not a fan of either (better alternatives on the mac), but the first thing I do on a PC I'm going to be using for a while is download Firefox.

Bookmarks under the bar seems to vanish in Firefox and Mozilla 1.6. When using the Smoke Theme!
