I work at a University and we are implementing "upcoming event screens." There are two of them - Mac minis connected to 1080p LCD monitors - and they have been installed, but that's where the support ends. We would love to have calendar integration, but would be willing to use something that just works. I would rather avoid updating a PowerPoint or Keynote slide every morning.

My question:

1) Have any of you had experience implementing such systems?

2) What is the best way to make it happen.

3) Bonus points if you get it working with Google Calendars

I've been considering coding my own Jquery/PHP... but that seems messy if there is a better alternative out there.

Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard

Well, Google Calendar integrates with iCal via CalDAV.

Get Started with CalDAV - Google Calendar Help

Then maybe look at a solution like this:

Apple - Downloads - Dashboard Widgets - iCal Events

And create a full screen webpage from the code provided. Another solution could be

iCalViewer home page | Mac iCal calendar events and to do's on your desktop

On a black background.

Yah, I've been able to embed the Google Calendar, but I guess I'm looking for something that can put a scroll through upcoming events. Perhaps embed the Google Calendar events on the screen.

I wonder if anyone has ever made a Screen Saver that could do it?
Anyone ever make an Apple Screensaver?

iCal viewer can be displayed on top of any screen saver. Perhaps running the Pictures screen saver with logos/promotional shots from your university with iCal Viewer running on top with the upcoming events.
