I just upgraded to 16 GB, and it makes Logic X just slightly less unbearable when working with Flex pitch over tracks that are just over three hours long. The system still pages out twenty gigs to disk before I can even hit play.

I've got 16 gigs in my home laptop even tough I don't really do crap with it besides surf the web and organize media.
What's funny is my work computer, on which I work with massive PSD files and whatnot is rocking 4 gigs.
My workplace is epicly cheap.

I got a C2D iMac off of Craiglist but ended up fixing the faulty temp sensor and flipping it for a little profit after seeing how much upgrades would cost (PC2-6400 DDR2 RAM??). I got a second gen i7 from eBay that would still use modern PC3-10600 DDR3 memory and threw another 8 gigs in it. Apparently there's a second SATA port so I can install an SSD if I want, but it involves disassembling the entire friggin' computer, including removing the logic board. The G4 iMac wasn't even that bad.
