Im sure everyone has seen the signs for $5 Psychic Readings in their town or while traveling elsewhere. What I wanted to discuss here were your thoughts on using psychics for more than just personal entertainment, more specifically in police and detective work.
Theres been documented cases in the past where police havent been able to solve a crime, at which point they turn to a psychic for help.
What I find the most interesting is when the psychics they hire actually solve the case.
What are your thoughts on this? What about using psychics to help solve some of the current investigations (such as the Peterson or Hacking
trials?)
Im not an expert myself on the topic, but Ive been learning a bit more from a new show on Court TV called Psychic Detectives. Its on Wednesdays at 9:30pm in case you want to watch it too.

Know any multi-billion dollar psychics?
People believe the wierdest things.
You would have to be desperate to go to a psychic.
I would guess some actually believe they have these powers, but I would also guess some prey on the gullible.

Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion - Steven Weinberg.

I knew someone that claimed she used to be able to do such a thing. She claimed it was "Whispered" in her ear.
She claimed with every truth, there was a half truth attached. That the "tellings" were filled with lies and truths.
For example. It would tell her this and that was going to happen say tomorrow which would be a Wednesday. And then it would really happen the NEXT Wednesday.
Of course she was a loon.

Psychics can see specific events in their clients future - for example how their wallets are getting lighter and such.
Everything else is pure BS.

You've got to admit: their tricks and techniques for making it appear that they can somehow 'sense' certain information, like "cold reading" or "fishing", are quite impressive IMHO.

If psychics knew, one would have posted a thread before you confirming that psychics can see the future.

I'll believe it when there is sufficient evidence. Any credibility it might have had is beyond recognition due to the overwhelming amount of frauds.

I can't understand the ads for winning lottery numbers. Why don't they play the numbers themselves?

My mother went to a psychic a month ago, as Mildura hosts a psychic expo. She took off her wedding ring (her and my father are separated) and we didnt go with her. The psychic mentioned me but not my one little sister. She also said something about problems in the marriage in future and in past. So, I dunno. She described my own, my fathers and my mothers personality in detail, and it was correct.
We got a tape of it, as for "AN EXTRA $1 YOU CAN HAVE YOUR READING TAPED!" I must say some of the psychics there were very strange looking (we went and had a look with my grandmother earlier) and they were selling all this good karma crap and buddhas and stuff. But hey, who knows whether or not she knew or guessed. But she got it right and it awakened me to the fact that psychics could really exist.
My advice to people going to a psychic, is don't. if you get a good one, you'll find yourself believing what they say.

I believe that anything is possible, you can't just write out the possiblity of psychics just because a bunch of people decided to fake it to get fame and fortune. I have yet to meet a person that could tell me the winning powerball numbers for the next drawing...but who knows...it could happen.
Here is a question: If you were an honest to God psychic what would you do with your powers? Use them for good or evil?

I'm pretty sure somewhere in the Bible it says to stay away from gypsies an psychics (I'm not making a joke, I'm serious.)
It's interesting how many Catholics consult psychics.

"Can psychics really see the past/future ?" .. By definition, YES.
Do real psychics exist ? That where things start to get a little fuzzy.
Spheric .... especially funny since it was in response to a person with only one post

There has been (for about 10 years now) an organization that is offering a $1 million CASH award for ANYONE who can PROVE (in controlled and verifiable settings) psychic power.....
......They have yet to award the money.

What's more interesting is how many psychics advocate catholicism. I've heard (from them) that Catholicism is the closest thing western culture has to the reality of the situation. In other words, intervention of deceased beings in our lives is quite likely, let alone possible, and that the Catholic investment in ritualistic dedications of the dead is not altogether unwarranted.

My Catholic mother-in-law went to psychics. One psychic told her that she was going to meet a very wealthy gentleman driving a dark green cadillac at a gas station. So, of course, she would get all dressed up everytime she went to put gas in her car, and filled the car up more often than usual. I can't understand how she could still be single. Her plan seemed fool proof.
I would find this kinda sad, but I really dislike the woman. Instead, I took great pleasure in her stupidity.

i think psychics are just really good at reading people. they make a loose statement and read how you react to it and they reply accordingly. as for psychic detectives, that police station should be shut down for wasting taxes.
