i just got my new macbook pro intoday and i want to have my iphone state get synced to my macbook pro so if i have to restore it can restore the data. (obviously)

what steps do i need to take. i plugged it in, it recognized it, i clicked sync, and it synced no data (because there is nothing on my new machine) but did it sync backwards, like i stated above.

sorry if my termonogly and grammer is off, been drinking.

thanks guys.

Syncing an iPhone to a "blank" computer should sync contacts, bookmarks, etc., but will not sync your music, videos, or photos.

This is hilarious. I love it when people admit they're drunk at the keyboard.

Please note that I was amused, not chiding - I really just couldn't quite work out what had synced, what hadn't, and what was supposed to.

To get your music transferred from your old computer to your new one, you can use the Migration Assistant. That's the easiest way to do it. Once you have the music on the new computer, you can again sync it with your iPod (you may need to mess with iTunes to tell it it's ok to sync with the iPod).

What were you drinking? I had some nice dark beer last night-yum!
