While looking through the local movie store, I came across the first Action movie I ever remember seeing Called "GOTCHA" (Starring a "young" Anthony Edwards). Yeah it's a little ont he Cheesey side, but I NEVER imagined I would ever find it on DVD!

Of course I bought it (And am watching it right now).

So, what movie(s) from the 80's is/are your favorite?

I have to add "Goonies" and "Labyrinth" to my 80's movie list too.

Gymkata

I so want this movie on DVD.

But seriously, though I am really serious about Gymkata, the only films Stanley Kubrick made in the 80s were The Shining and Full Metal Jacket, so I'd have to vote for The Shining.

Stripes
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
The Lost Boys
American Werewolf in London
Raising Arizona
Fandango
Beverly Hills Cop
Sixteen Candles
Planes, Trains, Automobiles
Breakfast Club
Midnight Run
Dead Poet's Society
Terminator
The Abyss
Blade Runner
The Thing

And, because I was very horny at the time, the horrible movie "My Tutor."

Wonderful dialog and the best choreographed sword fight.

Raging Bull
Amadeus
Henry V

And my pick of best movie of the 80's:

Brazil

I'm choosing to pick not just movies released in the 80s (aliens, princess bride, indiana jones, which I will kill to get dvds of) but movies that best epitomize the 80s.

Thus:

The Breakfast Club
Heathers

That is all.

They Live!

Wasn't really that great, but had a lot of cool one-liners.

Lots of memories in this thread...

I darn near wore out my parents Top Gun tape when I was 5. Crocodile Dundee was kinda funny.

Too tired to continue.

I also would have figured that in a computer forum people would have chosen 1982's Tron.
World of Warcraft (Whisperwind - Alliance) <The Eternal Spiral>

Ooops, thanks for catching that typo (My excitment at the time was in overdrive).

Wow! All these good 80's have caused two different thought paths to occure in my mind:

1st: This 80's FLASHBACK is making me think of FLASH DANCE which is making me think of that song "Apple II for ever" *Gets a eerie cold chill on back*

2nd: This 80's backflash is making me think of a TIMEWARP, which is making me think of Rocky Horror Picture show, which is making me think of 'Meatloaf" as a Transvestite, which is reminding me how bad I feel as I keep getting told I'm a "virgin" as I've never "Properly" seen Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Oh Man! This thread which started out so good, as come right around and kicked me int he butt! How awful is that!

Some pure CLASSICS have to be....

* Goonies
* Back to the Future (all three - the third one was made in 89, even if it wasn't released until 1990)
* Top Gun
* Ghostbusters
* Labyrinth
* Karate Kid
* Predator

and my all time favourite....

Transformers the Movie!!

It's got Orson Welles, Lennoard Nimmoy and Judd Nelson!!
