I had iTunes, Safari, Yahoo Messenger and i'm not sure what else running. I go away for a few minutes and when I returned my system was frozen. Had to do a "hard" shut down (by holding down the power button for a few seconds).
Is there a way to figure out what caused this? I've been going over the logs using console, but i'm not sure what to look for.
Any ideas?
TIA

I can't help at all, but I think i'm having the same problem. First iTunes will stop playing, then mouse movement becomes jerky, and no clicks respond. After about 5 seconds the cursor freezes. A hard reboot is required (unless I could SSH in and fix it, which I doubt).

Any login items or pref panes/app enhancers? Extra iTunes apps like Clutter or Synergy? Sounds like a compatability problem- could be Yahoo Messenger.

I've had this happen with Clutter, although it also happened before using Clutter. Poisoned also seems to cause crashes (karma's a btch ). Other than those I have iMote, FuzzyClock, MenuMeters, Mail, Safari, Fire and perhaps Terminal. Never had these sorts of crashes in Jaguar.

Disable Clutter, iiMote, Fuzzy Clock, Menu Meters- Poisoned is flaky.

I belive these have not been adapted to Panther. Those are your problems, not Panther.
