It also asked about people staying in your house (on April 1, I think, the official date of the census) so that they were still accounted for but didn't get double counted. Hardly an intrusive request.
I understand the hubub about moving the census in the governmental org chart, but the echo chamber really seems to have distorted this one.

I agree completely with that.
(Moving Census under the White House is justified hubub, but the rest is a bit much.)
