I have a Logitech laser cordless mouse -- it's several years old. In the past few days, instead of single clicking on an item, it frequently double-clicks, instead. That means mail is opening up all the way, instead of in preview mode, for example. If I select a bunch, with the intention of deleting them, they all open instead. There are other issues as well, obviously, including in the selection of type.

I thought it was perhaps USB overdrive acting up. So I dis-enabled that, and installed the latest version of the Logitech control center. The problem is slightly better, but it's still happening.

WOuld this be the mouse itself? I can think of nothing else. It is older, but it seemed to be working OK before this. I absolutely cannot work like this. Thanks in advance.

OK, I think this is an input kind of error. This happened many years ago -- open Excel and the spreadsheet spools endlessly to the right. (Unfortunately, I have no clue as to how I solved it last time -- bought the mouse I have now, perhaps?)

I did upgrade to OX 10.5.6 the other day. Could that have caused this? It is absolutely maddening. Any thoughts? Please?
