saw this mentioned briefly elsewhere, and thought it would be a good idea for us Xounds users to have a thread of sound links and / or sound set attachments.
the set i use is mainly derived from the awesome SGI Soundset 1.0.
i'm into subtle clicks and blips, nothing jarring that would overly distract from a track playing in iTunes, for example, and SGI gets the job done *well*, imo.
anyone else got a link or a custom set to share?
and by the way, could someone tell me how to extract the OS 9 soundset via Xounds without installing classic? or send them to me by email or something?
hope to see some fresh sounds in here

It's kinda sad that no soundsets have been created for Xounds yet. All we have to work with is either old OS 9 soundsets or self-made soundset from random .aiff files...
I can't post anything cool tho, I use SGI soundset too
But you can always check out the sets here...

Make me the 3rd vote for the SGI soundset.
The other one I like is the Glass soundset... has some pretty interesting sounds within.

I'm using the classic platinum sounds. I could upload them if I knew where they are stored... I'll look around and post back again if I find em.
[EDIT]: I found em. they are in 'Home Folder/library/xounds'
I'll upload in just a sec.
[RE-EDIT]: ok, click to download (1.15 mb)

hey, glad to see some sets here.
has anyone tried downloading and applying mine? i saved it as a .xoundset file, same as you both. however, i can use xounds built-in os 9 soundset conversion app on my own file, but when in try browding to your files, the .xoundset is treated as any normal folder and is unselectable. highlighting it just reveals all the audio files inside, which are kind of meaningless unless i can repackage them into a working .xoundset folder / file. no one had the same trouble as me? i'm giving this a rest till tomorrow. keep posting if you got something! later.

bumpity... love the soundsets.
Bladerunner set was great on OS9 but unfortunately the "rain and thunder" when you scroll down went away in Xounds.
I still use a combination of "Voices of the Future" and the "String Intro" as a startup sound. http://idisk.mac.com/eyevaan/Public/...ring_Intro.sit

i'm honored to see reference to my little creation (SGI soundset) of many, many moons ago (i can't believe it's been five years, nor can i believe my old website still exists). my soundset grew pretty popular back in the day. it took a lot of tinkering to figure out the many undocumented hidden features of soundsets when OS 8.5 came out. it was one of the first soundsets to be released.
IRIX remains one fantastic operating system. loved my SGI Indigo High Impact.

yachtandsea,
Just wanted to say thanks.
I've used your soundset since its first release years ago. Has always been my favorite... great work on your part.
You can definitely see now how its popularity withstood the ages.
Thanks again.
