American Airlines' flight attendants will soon be assisting passengers with the help of Samsung's Galaxy Note. The airline has announced that all 17,000 of its flight attendants will be getting one of Samsung's stylus-enabled phablets to help them access passenger information, track food and beverage preferences and purchases, and stay up-to-date on travel conditions.

The airline started testing the program in the spring, and attendants will likely begin getting the handsets later this year. American says it decided on the Note for its portable design and easy to handle profile. The Galaxy Note won't be the first piece of touchscreen technology American Airlines works into its flight experience. Last week, the company received permission from the FAA to replace its flight manuals with iPad versions. Last year, American began offering Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 as an entertainment option for passengers flying in premium seats.
