I just want to see how these two "controversial" GUIs compare with one another. Personally, I don't like either, but if i had to go with one, I'd say Luna. As the preview of 10.3 draws closer, I wonder if Apple are going to apply brushed metal to the entire interface, or do something completely new.

I personally love brushed metal. It's nice and low-key and sophisticated. I love hacking my nibs to make everything as brushed metal as possible. I am a brushed metal fanatic. Even that cocoa app I wrote to leech porn sites... THATs in brushed metal too. Big up brushed metal! Booyaka!!!!
Luna looks like it was designed by a 5-year-old.
Then again, Windows RUNS like it was designed by a 5-year-old so that is no surprise.

Guess I'll have to say Metal is the lesser of two evils. I like it on a few apps, but when I have Address Book and iChat and iTunes it's hard to tell windows apart from each other since the active-vs-background contrast is so low for gray-on-gray. So I don't think I'd like it system-wide. I wouldn't call it ugly... but Luna sure is.

brushed metal is pretty damn ugly/annoying, but it's better'n Luna (haha, moon).
The reasons for this:
-there are no gradients! this is a good thing! those damn vertical gradients in Luna (yes, even silver and green) make text hard to read.
-Brushed metal is not as bloated.
therefore, brushed metal is easier to use and better.

I love brushed metal. Looks more professional than both Luna and Aqua.

I hate brushed metal.
Compared with Luna though, brushed metal is amazing.
They both suck though.

Aqua is better than both: brushed metal looks to "flat", Luna too "coloured".
I really hope brushed metal isn't going to become yet another "forced" Apple default: at least, make it a system-wide option...

Truly... I don't like both either. Why can't OS X have themes you can install, or have tools in which people can make their own themes? Not just limited the OS to just look like 2 themes... it gets old... really old... really soon...

There are plenty of themes you can install, however you need an app like Duality when installing them. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can pass you some links for site with good themes...

What I don't understand about MS is that, despite their enormous resourses, their OS looks terrible. Really, truly hideous.
And some themes, probably designed by a single person in their free time, are considerably better.
Is Luna really the best that MS can do?
Bruhed metal is the lesser of two evils. The other being monumentally evil.

OK, now I can vote, thanks...
I do not like brushed metal system wide. For some apps it might be cool looking, or handy, or even proper(?). iSync is looks alright, QuickTime yep.
But I really do not see the reason to do this to Safari, I really do not see the consistency.
Sometimes you have Aqua, then you have BM.
So the option should be several themes you can choose, like we had in OS 9, system wide.
I remember Apple even came up with a patent about themes, you can read it here

I love brushed metal very much but I prefer it to be in a few apps, not all.
I'd like to see them come up with a "mini" version of Brushed Metal for pro apps such as Photoshop, FCP, DVD Pro Studio, Shake, etc etc.
By the way, did Apple add an ability to enable Brushed Metal in Carbon apps? I think I saw someone saying that it's possible in 10.2.4. I would really love to try brushed metal in Photoshop.
