I have several home movies here I need to convert to mp4. They are currently .avi files.

I have succesfully done this with several of the files via visual hub(no longer supported) but it will not complete 5 of my files.
It converts succesfully or so it says but the files remain incomplete. They cut off too early.
These files are all 18gb.

So I need another program to convert these files. Any ideas?

Handbrake didn't work either. The video file stopped at the same point it did with visual hub.
And even though I told handbrake to save as a mp4 it gave me a .m4v file.

m4v is mp4 with a different extension. You can simply rename it if it bothers you.

I have good luck with an application called MPEG StreamClip. It may seem as if it only converts .mpeg and .mpg to other formats but it also converts .avi to MPEG-4, Quicktime, MPEG and others. MacUpdate.com or VersionTracker.com should have it. Good Luck
