Anybody know a simple work-around for the following minor annoyance:

I often run a classic app (Scrabble) that automatically sets the display to 800x600 when run. When quitting the app, the display settings in X are fine. But, after running the app, whenever classic is stopped (either from the prefs pane or by shutting down the computer) the display settings suddenly switch to 800x600 thousands of colors.
