My iBook as only the onboard 128MB of ram, I'd like to take some more.
What kind of model (spec) should I look for?
  • SODIMM PC??? (is there anything better than 133?)
  • ECC?
  • What does stacked mean?
  • CAS?
  • what is {2-2-2}?
Can I install that module by myself? I don't think so (warrany and other stories)... How much will a retailer ask me for this operation?

PS.: does Jobs kiss all the DIMM in iBooks? they cost so much... :)

Try Crucial. They have a memory finder and you can get exactly what you need. You can buy memory for a lot less from others but they (Crucial) back up what they sell. You have only one empty slot: the origional 128 meg is nonremovable. You need to determine whether you want to add a 128, 256, or 512 chip in the empty slot.

You can put it in yourself .

Chill out man, it's just an iBook. Any SO DIMM will do. 512 is the largest you can slap in for a maximum of 640, and yes, slap it in yourself. Do yourself a favor and go to dealram.com, it's a subsidiary of dealmac.com.

Your post says you want the BEST ram you can get. I would say that was Viking Memory. It's probably the best memory money can buy, but it certainly does cost.

RAM and airport card are user-installable on the iBook, and will not void your warranty.
