It looks like the DVD sales of seasons 1-3 did extremely well. Seth McFarlane told the NY Post that the show will be returning to television but it hasn't been decided yet on which network will be airing the new episodes. I hope Fox doesn't get it back. They killed it the first time by constantly shifting the schedule and giving it "breaks" from air time. They don't deserve to have Family Guy back.
I hope the Cartoon Network picks it up.

I love that show, is there a DVD somewhere of all the aired shows.

"We're sort of waiting on an official word, but to the best of my knowledge, the plan is to start producing a batch of new episodes without necessarily knowing where they're going to wind up,"
That doesn't sound like "confirmed" to me. It sounds more like a definite maybe.

Wow, there is hope after cancellation after all. It's too bad Futurama got axed, now that show would be another one I'd like to see return.

I think the return of the show to television is going to replace the direct-to-DVD movie.

I think you are right about that. The movie was talked about before the show was confirmed to return to television. All efforts will probably be put toward new episodes. A movie would be cool, though.
Not sure if many people are aware, but the equally brilliant 'The Critic' has finally fought it's way onto DVD. The complete series comes out on January 27.

I'm fine with that. Half an hour of Family Guy is great, and it's humor lends very well to the shorter format. But a 90 minute movie would just be too much.
Great to hear it's coming back though.

Well, as others have said, it's no more "confirmed" than it was two months ago. Seth has been talking about this since Thanksgiving or so, but until Fox makes the announcement, really anything can happen.
That being said: [quagmire]All riiiiight!!![/quagmire]
