Has anyone noticed that we're seeing a major increase in MacNN memberships? I've noticed that since last year whenever I'd checked, we were hovering around 250-350 members and on special occasions (like WWDC Keynotes, etc.) it would spike and then drop back down.

But after the intro of the Intel Macs (MacBook Pro, Intel iMacs & Mac Mini) we're seeing memberships now hovering around 500-550 (whenever I looked) and that's not on "special occasions."

I say you could keep the other forums free but lock the lounge to people who have to pay like ,$5 a year...

MacNN stays alive because of the help it gives, but the lounge (the only section I visit daily) would greatly bennefit from like a $1 a year posting fee...

it would keep out SPAM and annoying people...

Yep, I definitely agree. In fact, that's what brought me and keeps me here.

I disagree. I could see maybe keeping the Lounge hidden from users until after a certain period of time but I don't think it should be exclusive to people who pay for it.

Pay-to-post? Haha. The forum would go under in a week, tops.

indeed. Pay to post would drastically degrade the quality of the postings in the lounge.

Besides, isn't there a reason for banner ads???
