So, word was that Garmin would announce some sort of software code named Bobcat. Has anyone heard any details? When will or did they announce? Thanks

It only took Garmin decades to frickin do this.

And it's Intel only.

Umm? Doesn't look like Intel only to me.

System Requirements:
Intel-based or PowerPC G3 or later Mac
OS 10.4 or later
512 MB RAM
USB port

That's promising to hear. So TomTom units work well with OS X as far as updates? I want to get GPS for my car but heard mixed things about Garmin and wasn't sure about TomTom.

Some seem to say Garmin has better maps and POI but TomTom is a little less pricey and works a bit better with OS X. I'm sure they both work just fine and even before posting this I was leaning toward TomTom but I'm not 100% sure yet.

I have a Garmin nuvi 660 and love it. Got it from Amazon around Christmas for about $475. I've been spending a lot of time in a very dense part of the US, and this thing has POI's and great nav instructions to get me around.

It looks like PPC are included as well. From the link above: "Intel-based or PowerPC G3 or later Mac OS 10.4 or later 512 MB RAM USB port".

YomTom had OS X support (not just beta software) for a long time.

As far as maps go, I don't know which ones are better.
But the new TomTom maps can be edited, and you can submit changes, which other users can subscribe to. It's called Map Share. Garmin doesn't have anyhting like it.

Also, as far as POI's go, I'm very happy with the way TomTom handles them.

And most reviews agree that TomTom has the superior GUI.
