So I picked up 5 iMacs and 3 blue and white G3's today from someone on the craigslist, the iMacss all are running perfect

However the blue and white g3s have some start up issues
they wont boot of my legit panther install cds or anything else, i have the case open and i can watch the activity led go like mad but it still wont get away from the blinking question mark thats with all 3 of them, ive zapped the pram, went into open firmware and did the NVRAM reset and everything

Any Ideas guys??

Might be a bum optical drive. Try putting in another one. Any generic ATAPI drive will work.

It doesn't have to be an Apple drive to boot. I'm running a B&W G3 as a server and the old optical drive is long gone. I have a Sony Dual Layer DVD-R in there now, and it boots just fine from it.

No, it doesn't have to be an "Apple" drive, although there are a few ATAPI drives that wont work. Most of the ATAPI drives that wouldn't work even have problems working properly on PCs. Just avoid Memorex branded drives.

Also, is your Jaguar disc a CD and the Panther a DVD?
