I can't remember, but is the 'Tether Data' amount included in the 'Cellular Network Data' amount?

The reason I ask is because I'm at 51 MB sent and 266 MB received for cellular network data, and 18 MB sent and 239 MB received for tether data.

So, does that mean I've used 317 MB data, or does that mean I've used 574 MB? My plan maxes out 1 GB per month.

It's been several months since I've tethered this much that I've forgotten completely if it's included or not.

P.S. Hi from Vancouver!

Hmmm... I'm thinking the tether data is completely separate, because after the last little while my tether data has increased significantly but my cellular network data hasn't moved much, which means I'm now well over 600 MB. That's what you get from watching a bunch of HD movie trailers on YouTube I guess.

Perhaps it's time to go back on the 6 GB plan, if it's still available and I can get a discount on it.

P.S. Prometheus looks like it might just be good.

Depends on the plan, right? What carrier?

I was talking about the usage tracking page on the iPhone itself.

Carrier is Fido in Canada.

The usage is separate.

I actually asked Sprint about this because they have a 5 GB limit on the tethering (i.e. wifi hotspot) option. However, their website and billing does not differentiate between the phone and tethering data use while the phone itself does.

It seems that they are working on this, but for now, tethering data with Sprint is "unlimited" even though eventually it will be the same 5 GB limit they have for their independent hot spots and USB sticks.

So the question is: is the 1GB data plan you mention for phone or tethering data?

My plan is 1 GB total. It does not differentiate between regular usage and tethering. All plans 1GB and over with my provider include tethering support.

So that means I'm now over 700 MB total. Luckily my business trip ends tomorrow or else I'd need some serious data rationing for the rest of the month... or else a new plan.
