Hey all, so every few years I check in to see what old consoles can be effectively emulated, I've had a ton of old super nintendo games that I can break out when I'm feeling nostalgic, and I recently found out that there's a pretty good PlayStation 1 emulator out there for Mac. It's called PCSX and I'm currently playing through FF7 with it.
Figured I'd mention it here since I know last time I checked I couldn't find any good options

It must have been many years since you looked at these emulators then, Salty, as PCSX was last updated in 2003.

Since 2003 the computers have become powerful enough to run it properly.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I figured he meant accuracy and stability and stuff. Is the PSX any more powerful than the Nintendo 64? The Nintendo 64 has been fully emulated at 30FPS for many years now.

Maybe I just never found one? Also this one runs on Intel Macs so 2003 would have been earlier than the Mac version's last development.

Cool, I'm glad you've found a solid emulator! I meant no offense or hostility
I rather enjoy game emulation.

ProjectX (works fine in WINE), Sixtyforce, PCSX...
You can run almost any emulator you can find on the Mac. I've only found one that I encountered difficulty with running in WINE. You can even emulate the Wii just fine, and use the native controllers for each of these consoles.

The original PCSX was discontinued in 2003 (because the people behind went to work on a PS2 emulator PCSX2) but has since been revived as PCSX-Reloaded, which is probably what Salty found.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
