Yes, we've heard it all before. But look at the comments to this Urban Legend article clearly dispelling the myth:

http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/2008...-the-light.htm

In case you were too busy monitoring the worldwide economic crisis this past week to keep up on the really important news, let me be the first to apprise you that retailers across America started whipping a talking doll off their shelves in recent days after customers complained it was "spouting hate" -- at least that's the way it was couched in a report by Fox News Kansas City yesterday.

The doll in question, Fisher-Price's Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle & Coo Doll, allegedly repeats the phrases "Satan is king" and "Islam is the light" in addition to all of the standard babbling and cooing one would expect to hear from a talking baby doll.
…and people still go on to believe this doll is saying "Islam is the light"? (Which by the way constitute spouting hate anymore than "Jesus Loves You" in which sane part of the world?)

Original MP3 used in doll

Babygobledigook sounding like mamamamamamagoodnight to me, but don't let me prime your senses.

You're better at that than me then. It's just sounded like complete gibberish to me - like a language invented specifically to make use of all the vowels that were left over when they invented Welsh.

We have an Elmo potty sound book and one of the samples sounds just like, "Who wants to die."

And who is this "we" you speak of pale face?

LOL. That's pretty ridiculous. You can kind of make out "light" if you listen to it hard, but "Islam" just isn't there at all. It sounds more like "amma ight."

Does the term pareidolia apply to auditory perception, as well?

It should.

Never heard of this doll, never heard of this urban legend and certainly if someone had told me I'd have laughed at how silly that sounded instead of rushing to some forums telling everyone how outraged I am.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

If Burger King's ice cream swirl can be mistaken by Muslims for the word, Allah, then this doll may be said to be propagandizing.

But you have no qualms against presumptuously looking down on an anonymous person on the internet that does it.

Pareidolia can be both visual or auditory.
