No easy way to do this I presume.

I'm looking for a solution (program) to sort my searches by type and file size.

What I want to do is highlight .png files and convert to smaller .jpg files

Similarly, reduce size of .pdf files, using preview save as

To be honest, all I'm after really is a size column in "searching this mac"

The best workaround I can do at the moment is to search for png, open all in preview, select information for first item, then scroll down, "saving as" as I go along.

A Windows file manage would be ideal

You can filter by size in Spotlight (not quite as good as sorting but close)... then create an automator action to do the resizing.

Yeh, I do that at the moment, just be nice to have a File manager type display, so it's not quite so manual.

In Automator you can do both the finding by type and size, then the scaling all in one go:

However, if you want a better find, try EasyFind from DevonTechnologies:

This is exactly what I was looking for, but couldn't find it myself, many thanks.

I can "save as" in preview, for smaller file size, then delete the original file within the app.

.png >> .jpg is what I mainly use it for, plus .pdf reduce file size option

I don't get some of the responses to this post. I use "searchin g this mac" to fine .mov files and I want to see how large each of them is. I do not want to use get Info on 300 files. A column in the finder window that showed the size, or the ability to add columns to the finder window, would certainly be welcome. I'm a UNIX guy, but find . -name \*.mov | xargs ls -l doesn't work because there are spaces in the file names. I could write a script script that echoes the file name with the spaces escaped, but that is whole lot of work for functionality that I think should already be there.

Why not use -print0 on your find and -null on your xargs?
