Since 2.5 Ghz G5 is out so do you think it's possiblity that Apple is trying to surprise all of us by releasing 3.0 Ghz G5 this June?

No.

Assuming IBM ramps up production of faster chips, I think this bump (which is really just a minor speed bump, not a major upgrade) may mean that the G5s will get a more major redesign in six months.

Normally six months would be expected, but nowadays it is a relatively short amount of time to wait for a hardware update from Apple. I have a feeling they're still working on a redesigned PowerMac G5, and the ones introduced yesterday were simply a stop-gap because they NEEDED to give SOME kind of update, even a lackluster one.

Oops. Well, we can at least hope for better technology sometime - PCI Express, PCI-X and 8 RAM slots on the low end, and so on.

Apple have officially said no.

Now please stop drooling and buy a current machine that is more than adequate.

Apple has now turned the tables. By telling us "not anytime soon" we believe them. But then they can surprise us when they are ready to ship.

Have we been surprised by Apple regarding clock speeds lately? Nope.

I mean, they said there is no 3ghz G5 soon. What more do people needed to be told... this is as close to official confirmation as we will get!

Yet, all over the web these threads have sprung up...

If I were Apple I'd hate it.

when I saw that at first I thought Oh well maybe mid 2005. But then I thought Maybe apple is trying to trick us The point of macworld is to anounce stuff and lately rumor sites have been finding things out. what if apple planted that information as a joke and 3.0 is still coming out in summer, unlikely but everybody likes false hope
