iWeb doesn't come with any kind of hosting service. It's made to integrate with .mac (which costs $99 per year), or you can put it on your own website. You could use a free site like Geocities or something. Often your ISP (Comcast, Bellsouth, etc.) will provide a free web space for you.

I noticed most people haven't explore the options of using different fonts besides using the default Helvetica type. Design can be changed too. Just a thought.
When I got my copy of iWeb, I quickly mapped out what I needed to present and went to work. I have built several sites under the main head but this would be the showpiece of my business.
Enjoy,

Does anyone know if it is possible to change a theme of a site that has been published? I want to change my blog theme, but don't want to copy and paste all of that stuff!
Thanks

As far as I know, you can't change the theme half way like homepage. I can understand why too. It would upset the settings and possibly the design of the page. You have to do it the long way. Create new page and cut/paste.
If you know otherwise, please lemme know

Ulrich, it comes with your subscription to a .Mac account. One hundred American dollars a year. Given what comes with it, not a lot of money!

If I'm not mistaken, iWeb comes with one that you can insert
Insert->button->Hit counter

I forgot to ask when I posted my link if there was an option anywhere that allows readers to post their comments regarding your page or blog pages?
I found the buttons to "email me" but could not find anything about comments.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Monica

I re-built the entire website for the San Diego Men's Chorus (we're pretty tight on funds, so I wear many hats). I'm really really happy with the site....except....
www.sdmc.org
All of the pages load so slowly. Is this just how it's going to be with iWeb?
Is there anything I can do to get this resolved?
Thanks!
JERRY

i'm almost positive its due to bloated coding (although i know as much about coding as a preschooler knows about adding and subtracting). I built one site through iWeb and another identical one through dreamweaver and needless to say the page built through dreamweaver loaded way faster.
this pisses me off because as a designer i'm more into wyswyg as oppose to coding but when it comes to the www you don't have much choice. either code it yourself or pay somebody to do it for you. i wish apple was to focus more into iweb, if done well i could see it being used as a pretty decent alternative to DW for those that want a professional look with an easy to understand application.
what i typically do when building any iweb page is choose the blank document template and i go in there and erase EVERYTHING and start from scratch for ALL my web pages. avoiding the template look is KEY for a website to look semi professional at least.

When it comes to iWEB you have take into consideration various factors e.g. optimisation for SEO and easy to navigate page. SEO is the biggest leak of iWEB.
I have just found on SEO offline magazine, featuring company based in London, they just explained SEO techniques used in iWEB. I think that was paid advertisement by Apple, but web site is stunning.
Go and check your self bathroom specialist
1. clear text (veranda);
2. tags instead menu (see page source);
3. image of xxx text over the images;
3. key word in image names, alt, titles;
4. meta tags;
5. a web site is updated something like every day;
Even though about dropping email to mogio, ask about how they perform on big three engines. Once they reply I’ll update here, too.

Jerry,
One thing I see that is a basic no-no is that you are using full-size images and are reducing them to to thumbnail size in the code. This can slow down rendering to some extent, depending on the size of the original image. The proper method is to create thumbnail images to the correct size (using Photoshop or whatever.)
I can't imagine this would lead to the slowness you seem to be seeing, though. FWIW, the site loads quickly for me in Firefox2.

Slapped this together in a rush for a client. 1st go at iWeb, which I had ignored up until now. Using the 09 version. A few glitches but good if you need to get a site up and running, that afternoon.

Then did this one:

I did think this also, I saved for web via Photoshop and that was as small as I could get it without loosing to much quality. I there a way to make it load once only?
