Teams were complaining that the cheerleaders were "distracting" their players at Away games. I think it's funny that apparently this happened so much NFL had to make a rule about it?

why can't the cheerleaders be the ones playing ball and the football guys doing the cheerleading. of course the cheerleaders would be in their usual outfits
