Nikon digital SLR shutter release, with a TV remote! [JPG INSIDE]

I have a D50 and I like to take long exposures, I have not taken with the D50 as I never knew how to take anything longer then 30sec...
I ran across an article on nikonians.com about using a universal remote to replace the nikon IR shutter release. I dug around my junk drawer and found my old universal remote, luckily found the TV codes online and in no time I had my universal remote remotely releasing the shutter on my D50!
SO, I know there are a lot of D50/D40/D70 owners here, so get a universal remote and try the codes related to sears Tv's... the one listed on nikonians was code 1066, mine was 066, it depends on the remote though...
anyways, post up some long exposure pictures to inspire me to take some!

Nice. I didn't realise the D50 had a built in IR shutter release receiver.

Can you post a link to the orignal nikonians info? This sounds like a neat trick. I have a d70 and a d200.

I don't think Nikon put the IR receiver in the D200. I don't really understand why, as it is something I use all the time in my D80.

One guy stands still(the guy you see) another guy moves the sparkler in a path(we don't see him because it's dark and he's moving to fast).

apparently it was discovered because they were once very hard to get, and I did not want to spend any money, plus I had an old remote in my junk drawer...

Nikonians are the saddest bunch of nerds I've come across. They're not into photograpy, they're into being Nikon-nerds.
A waste of time for people who are actually interested in *photography* as opposed to tech-whoring.
Yes, I have a Nikon D80. Love it. Yet I'm in it for the photos, not the camera.
