Okay, so I've got parallels and I'm getting ready to load Windbloze XP. I'm excited with the exception of this gut feeling that I'm about to compromise the integrity of my security.

Here's the deal; long time Mac user at home, Windows user at work. I'd like to begin doing more work from home in general and dual-boot is my answer. I've never, not once, worried about spyware, malware, norton, mcafee... or needing any type of protection against any kind of malice. Back in the days of Virtual PC, if something happened (if I recall) you'd simply scrap that build of Windows, re-install, no harm done to the Mac. My fear is that Windows in this scheme (drag-n-drop capability between both platforms) will have access to the Mac system. Is it possible that Windows-related malice could compromise the integrity of my Mac?

I know... likely a stupid question from a dual-boot noob, but I wanted to verify none the less.

You need to install the Parallels Tools into Windows from within Parallels, which will give Windows access to the Parallels Share Folder on the Mac drive. That's it, though.

Also, Parallels comes with Kaspersky Internet Security...

But basically, if you're not dependent on actual dual-booting, and running in Parallels is good enough for your needs, you should be able to handle it just as you did back in the Virtual PC days. Except I'd make a backup of the fully-installed virtual disk, making a re-install a question of simply blowing away the disk image and replacing it with the backup.
