I wish I could say it stops there, but actually, it gets worse. Let me introduce you to a game Japanese kids like to play called "Kancho."

Actually, it's not so much a "game" as it is kids clasping their hands together, sticking out their first fingers, and shoving them up your butt. I'm really not joking.

You know, before we come to Japan, they tell us a lot of ultimately useless stuff. What kind of computer to bring, if our DVD's will work, clothing sizes, that kind of nonsense. Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, in the 3-4 months of orientations did anyone ever mention that at some point, a Japanese kid may try to stick their fingers up our butt. That's something I would have liked to know, personally.
hahaha

I once saw a Freshmen (all drunk) being undressed. In the lobby of my dorm (with only one entrance). Then, when he was naked, they took pictures of his butt (they also spread the butt cheeks and took even more pics). After that, they stole his pants and pushed him outside. Without pants. I was stunned.

Oh, and there was a group of boys and girls sitting at a table laughing at that guy.

A friend of mine took two pictures as a proof. Otherwise nobody would believe it. Ever.

The stories on the web site are really great

I'm just glad I was NEVER kancho'd in Japan. I'd have certainly laid down a Hiroshima sized Gaijin Smash.

Also, being white, I was safe from the dikku gurabbingu...

Amazingly good find tooki!

Just another note, there're more stories by this guy.

http://outpostnine.com/editorials/

Trry the porn one. Read the first part and then the second part.

Very interesting. The owl story was quite touching.

This is my new favourite one:

One of my sannensei girls is in love with Michael Jackson. We often give them skits - we provide an initial framework, and they get to modify and fill in things according to their preference. This girl always, and I do mean always, finds a way to work Michael Jackson in. I'm actually getting quite concerned about it, I'm starting to think this is unhealthy.

Another time, the framework for the skit was a dinner party...they had sentences like "would you like some more ________ juice?" or "how about another piece of __________ cake?", and the students were supposed to fill in the blanks with whatever they liked. Chocolate cake, or orange juice, for example.

This girl and her partner, of course, picked "Michael Jackson cake" and "Michael Jackson juice". As I was walking around, I noticed this and told them it was a little odd. ...The hell is Michael Jackson cake? ...Y'know, on second thought, I really don't want to know. They teased me about it a bit, and at the end of class, on their comment sheets, the girl's message to me was "Michael Jackson juice for you!"

I dunno what Michael Jackson juice is, but I sure as hell don't want it.

I feel for Az, I really do. I hope his various "spidey senses" come back and he gets back into his Zen-like dodging form-or he's not going to be able to sit down for a long time!
