The title says it all. I put my PB to sleep at about 11pm and by 8pm the next morning the charge is all but gone. The battery display says I have an hour and thirty minutes or so of power but within 5 minutes the battery is drained and I need to charge. I used XBattery and the battery seems reasonable for it's age. One other point, I don't have any applications open when I put the PB to sleep so it's not like anything is running in the background and taking power.

I could just buy a new battery but I want to figure out what the problem might be first.

Any ideas?

I had this problem - turned out to be a bad logic board. I tried a second battery first and had the same problem. I took it into the Apple Store (still covered uner AppleCare) and they sent it in to be fixed - 3 days later it came back to me with a new logic board.

It's either a bad battery or logic board.

Thanks. The PB works absolutely brilliantly except for this issue. I'm not getting any other side effects so I'm not sure it's the board. Should I be experiencing any other issues if it's the board?

Try resetting the PMU per the instructions on <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449>.

Nope, tried it and it hasn't worked. Once again, my PB says that it's got about one hour left and then all of a sudden it turns off. Interestingly, I don't even get the warning to say that my battery is low.

I didn't experience any other problems than th PB not holding a charge when the logic board was bad.

Oh dear .....

Well I'm not going to spend money replacing my Logic board just so it keeps charge overnight. I'll wait for something else to go wrong first! Have to make sure I regularly back up though
