hi, I have an iMac 20 Intel with 512 ram and have had it for about two weeks. while running Photoshop CS2 I noticed a yellow line running right thru the middle of my screen, it's looks like it's one pixel wide but runs clear down the screen, from the white finder border at the top down. I can see it on the desktop and on any window I place "underneath" it.

does anyine know of a fix? or do I have to return? I bought my iMac at Fry's and I believe I am under the deadline of 15 days for returns. I had heard in these forums that Adobe Version Cue should NOT be installed, but I haven't open that app, or actually know what it does yet...

HELP.:-(

It's called a hardware failure. Take it back.

I would ignore the moronic post above. It would seem that some people enjoy being sarcastic idiots, even when they have no idea what they are talking about.

If it only happens in one app, then it's possible that there is a driver issue that's the culprit here. Have you checked for all available updates? If so, do you have another iMac available to you (friend, neighbor) that you might be able to test with to see if you can reproduce it? In a worst case scenario, I would go back to Fry's and see if you can load it up on their demo to see if you can reproduce it there. I would aslo select some other apps to run on your own system to see if you can reproduce it in a different scenario.

Trying these things will help to separate if it's something on your specific system, or if it's an overall compatibility problem. Even if you do determine that it's just on your machine that the problem exists, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a hardware issue. It could be a software corruption that could be fixed by a reinstall.

Hope you get a fix soon!

Yeah i tried everything nothing worked, except for a complete os install, which seems like a timewaste. i updated eveyrthing, Adobe CS2, Firmware, OS 10.4.6 from 10.4.4, and everything software update told me to. left the machine off for 3 hours, its in every app.

gonna go back to frys cuz its under the 15 day return policy they have. (by one day)

sux.

I work at the Fry's Electronics in Burbank, California, and over here, we have a 30 day return policy on all non-portable computers.

I'm not sure how it works in Dallas.
