In my attempts to install NetBSD on my Performa 6400, I accidentally set my real-base to F000000 instead of F00000 . Now, unsuprisingly, my mac won't boot. It won't even boot to the point where CMD OPTN P R will work. I pulled the motherboard out and disconnected the clock battery, held the reset button for 30 seconds, and let it sit for another five minutes with the clock battery disconnected.

My question is, how long should it take for the NVRAM/PRAM to completely discharge and lose all of its settings so that I can boot again? And it's not possible to erase boot rom on an OF2.0 machine, is it?

If you can boot far enough, hold Apple-Option-O-F and you may be able to reset the 'real-base'.

It shouldn't take too long, just make sure the tower is disconnected from the power outlet, take the battery out for 10 mins, and hold the reset for 15-30 secs.
