I'm having massive crashes while saving files from Illustrator and Photoshop to an smb volume, so I have been given a G5 to use as a small server. It's just a test to see if it would work better—A MacPro running Xserver is coming in the fall.

I'd like to incrementally backup everything saved on this G5 on a nightly basis to an smb volume-but the solution I like, Superduper, doesn't wok with network volumes. Could anyone here offer any suggestions?

Many, many thanks!

You can use a script invoking rsync. This can be done using Automator and iCal if you want to cut out as much scripting as possible. Don't forget to set the SMB volume to mount on login.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
