OK so I thought I would help support the new kid on the block.

Bought Drive Genius, tried to defragment my hard drives.

On my G5 imac -- it crashed and would not do anything.
On my G4 Powerbook -- it started to defragment, got about 1/8th of the way thru and said it was done. I tried to reboot and NOTHING. I cannot even get my original systems disk to start the machine up. I use the Drive Genius to start up and repair the disk, It says it's repaired, but I still cannot get the Mac to start, It keeps telling me to "restart".
Nothing.... Nothing.... Nothing
Drive Genius is NOT looking good!
Drink PepsiOne ! It tastes GREAT!

Ouch. This is why I let other people be the guinea pigs for new products of this type. Too bad, I had thought this might be a good program if it was made by the people that make Data Rescue, which is excellent. Apparently not, at least with this version.

Have you tried running DiskWarrior on your drive? It may be able to repair the damage - it worked for me once after Norton trashed my drive...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

rickray1,

Thanks for your post. I'm sure it saved much grief for many of us.

Sorry things have been so disastrous for you. Maybe a call to the gang at Data Rescue will result in a suggestion or two.

When you recover, please post again with your comments, suggestions, musings, tips, and conclusions. I know its hardly consoling, but I appreciate your leadership.
