Hi. My G5 iMac with 1gig of ram crashed and i've tried to start it up in safe mode, with system disks, with apple care disk and tech tool, all to no avail. If I hold down the option key while starting i'm supposed to get a hard drive icon and a right arrow. All I get is a rotate arrow and the right arrow, neither of which do anything. If I start up with a system disk or tech tool disk I just get the little tiny os folder icon that flashes a ?. In safe mode I get the same thing. I'm on my old clamshell iBook trying to figure out what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What you are trying should work, but have you tried starting up with the software install disk holding down 'c' (for a CD-ROM) or 'd' (for a DVD-ROM)?

Probably stating the obvious, but have you tried the old P-Ram?
