http://mac.utorrent.com/beta/

It's out at long last. I just downloaded it but haven't tried it because I have Azureus (Vuze) going on a bunch of torrents and I don't want to start them over.

edit: oh yeah, it's 10.5 and Intel Macs only.

Is there any reason to try this over Vuze?

uTorrent is known for having a very small RAM & CPU footprint, so its main advantage (if carried over to the Leopard build) may be in those areas.

Have you run it on PPC? The download page says 10.5 Intel.

It is Universal so it probably runs on PPC. They may have only done their testing on Intel and are only willing to support Intel at this time.

I don't like utorrent on the PC, so I most likely won't try it on the mac. Azureus does what I want, and on my PC azureus has always been quicker than utorrent.

W/o something like PeerGuardian, I'm leery of running it on my Mac.

I never looked to see if there is something similar for the Mac.
PG and utorrent works just great on my Fusion XP VM.

Vuze/Azureus on the Mac has SafePeer.

In Vuze, under the Filter Tab, simply paste "http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip" then click load.
That will load the bluetack list. No need for safepeer anymore.
