As the title says, I need new luggage. I don't really need a "set" I just need one piece that is big enough for 3 days of clothes while small enough to use as a carry-on. I can't stand checking bags and I can pack light.
What do all of you travelers use? I'm thinking $100 or less price range. Links are appreciated! I don't even know good brand names for luggage that's how lost I am on this search.

For only 3 days worth of clothing just about any bag would do. I have one of these bags (http://hssc.com/product?number=AT105&lang=en) and it works very well as a carry on bag if you travel a lot. The front part of the bag detaches making it convenient to put the large part overhead and still have the smaller part accessible during the flight.

Except for the fact that it's multi-colored I like it.

That happens to be the bag I have, but they have some similar models that probably have similar features. They also make (made?) that bag in other colors that some stores might still carry. I originally bought the bag over ten years ago in green and had it replaced for free under warranty when a zipper broke and they gave me a blue one back.

Not sure if it's the exact same bag... But found it in all black.

This may be the winner because it's def. multi-use.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the one I linked above after reading EVERY single review! Can't wait to get it. Thanks, SSharon!

You're welcome
I hope you like it and it serves you well! Even if it does have some problems in the future I can only say good things about their customer service.
It is sometimes a bit awkward to use it to travel with a laptop, but I've made that work as well. With the bag lying flat on the ground I first use the internal straps to secure all my clothing and then place my laptop sleeve on top of the clothing. Then just close the zippers to one side of the bag rather than the top to make it easier to slip the laptop out of the sleeve without fully opening the bag at airport security.
