I'm so sorry I didn't get to witness this firsthand as it developed, but there's a great thread over at the Your Mac Life forums about the infamous owner of MacMice.com.

Scroll down to about 3/4 of the way down the page to see a post from Shawn King. Interesting stuff. Suffice to say, I'd warn anyone to very seriously evaluate any planned transactions with this 'company.'

The problem is that he will kept changing his company name so people will be unsure if it's from the same guy

I'll bet it's available somewhere else at half the price.

Look at his iTilt - he's charging $13 each. At shopbodart.com you can buy a box of 12 for $20.

Any of you guys actually follow the whole thing? Including through the MacinTouch articles?
Day-yum.
Now, I am a naturally skeptical guy when it comes to buying stuff over the web. I research.
I do the math.
I got this to say for Mr. Jack: Look! A Duck!
He's a slick duck, though.

Nope, that's not his. That is possibly where he buys the iTilt for $20 for a box of 12, and resells them on his site for $13 each. Look closely, - they sell them by the dozen, not at single units.

Hello ...

Wait a second.

Wasn't "MacMice" launched to sell what was once known as the "Crystal Optical Mouse"? And didn't MacMice even post an FAQ ("Isn't this the same mouse I can get elsewhere for $10 less?") and claim that the _MacMice_ mouse was a specially-customized version of the COM and therefore worth the higher price?

Where is that flagship MacMice mouse now?

Just wondering. (Really. I can't bring myself to get all worked up about the YML/MM controversy. It simply seems odd that _the_ product around which the site was founded --and named-- simply isn't available anymore.)

They wanted me to work for them for some obscure iPod product.

I said no. This company is too obscure. They look like a scam.

While powerjack does overcharge quite nicely for his products his company IS legit.

To what level I have no idea.. usually he resells foreign products for high prices though... I'd leave it to your own discretion as to whether to buy from him or not.

Well although his prices are high and his past is skewed, people DO get what they order, and I suppose that's what matters. I know lotsa ppl at CubeOwners that have their highly overprices hunk of metal known as the DVCube and had no issues receiving it...still wouldn't buy from him.

Man, what a thread that was. The Macmice guy sounds rather pathetic. Shawn absolutely owned him in the post with the emails.

I donno. It's not because he went in prison that he's a bad guy. He sounds rather cool, knows diplomacy, and I'm willing to give him another chance. I think he learned from the past. We'll see that in the coming months

Ambush, if he were my kid, I'd say that. A friend, a relative, sure.
As far as a person with whom one might do business, NO FVCKIN WAY.
Seriously. If I sniff ANYTHING out of the ordinary when dealing with a business, I'm out. This guy presents way too many questions.
Are you going to give him a second chance with YOUR money?

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

As someone who once felt the same way, may I humbly offer you not waste your time.

Ask yourself why a meaningless beat on Superchic[k]en thread gets locked after three posts, while trashing this guy and his business is permitted.

It's because the things said here, with few exceptions, are valid.

Watch your back.
